Many writers have difficulty 'sticking to' a writing schedule. I know that
when life gets very busy I struggle too. But we all know that two of the most
important aspects of a writer's life is continuity and consistency. That is the
only way to have any kind of writing success.
But how can writers ensure that they are consistent in their writing
regimen? For myself, I find that I some days I have to trick myself into
writing. Sometimes I have to reward myself after I have written for an hour
or…

Rushing blinds us to the obvious. Rushing comes from fear and is designed to keep the
writer from looking down into the canyon and seeing how tenuous your perch may be
on the wire. Rushing is a survival skill for some writers. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, the
brain tells the body. Chemicals course through the writer's veins. Book deadline!
Whooooooooooosh, go. Go, go, go, go, go. If you work hard and fast, it will get done!
But is that always true?
Writing too fast, wanting too much too soon, is…

My book “I Can’t See, But…I Can Imagine” arrived on the scene in December 2003. Although I have always loved to write, I never once dreamed I would actually author a book. In 1994 I began producing my blind grandmother’s wonderful music. Five are for children…..delightful! At the time I belonged to the local songwriter’s association. When the children’s songs were completed everyone loved them….especially children. I kept hearing things like, “Wow! They are awesome, but there is no market for ch…

Today, I will reflect on how to write novels. I will focus not so much
on the mechanics of novel writing. God knows there's a lot of material out there
there that focuses on that topic. My concern here will be more on the
psychological restrictions that we experience when we want to write a novel.
Given that a lot of writers are partaking in NaNoWriMo, it is important to take a few
minutes to determine why it is so psychologically difficult for some writers to take on
the challenge of writing a…

I am so glad to be on board and to have a space to blog with all of your fellow writers. I intend to post several blogs a week. I think it is a great place for writers to get together and to discuss the dynamics of their writing lives. What a great venue this is.
I will send my very first blog within a few minutes. And that will be the beginning of a great relationship with you people.
Take care,
Irene

Dur to a family emergency with concerning my father, I am forced to postpone my upcoming interview series until sometime in December. Hopefully, I'll be able to begin posting it in Jan.
I appreciate all the well wishes and am grateful for all of your kind thoughts and words.
I'll see you when I see you. I will have extremely limited access, if any, to a computer while I'm away.
Take care, all, and God bless.

I'm planning a series of interviews with women writers/illustrators for my blog at: http;//claudsy.wordpress.com/. I'm still contemplating whether to post them here as well. Be sure and let me know what you think about having them here.
I've always been curious about what influences a writer's mental gears and shift ratio. (Okay, that was for the guys, but it's true nonetheless.) Our lives are influenced by all things outside of ourselves. But how much of an influence do we, as weiters, allow t…

Whenever I sign in to any of my chosen websites, a sea of faces greet me. some new and some familiar, but always I ask, "Who are these people really?"
I can sit on some, for instance, and talk to no one, post nothing, just watch the goings on. I never have tiime to get bored with that. It's fascinating to watch the interactions and the ebb and flow of contacts taking place. I ask myself questions about these colleagues in the industry. What did they have for lunch? How many children do they hav…

ARE YOU A DREAMER OR AN ACHIEVER
The courage to begin separates dreamers from achievers.
Your difficulty and the difficulty of everyone who ever desires to achieve anything worthwhile comes in the movement.
Don't always be intending to live a new life but never find a time to begin living it.
Most people fail because they never get started,
They don't go they don't overcome inertia, they don't begin.
Begin to free yourself at once by doing all that is possible with the means you have.
As you…
