About Me:
I am a freelance writer and editor, a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and the author of six nonfiction books published by The Globe Pequot Press, including It Happened in Chicago, scheduled for publication in August 2009. My picture book, One Wolf Howls, is on Sylvan Dell Publishing's spring list. My short stories have appeared in numerous magazines for young people, and my poems about animals have appeared in Highlights for Children and Zootles magazines.

I am available for presentations centering on creative writing or on the topics covered in her books.

7th Annual Children's Literature Breakfast

I just got back from Anderson's Bookshops Seventh Annual Children's Literature Breakfast. This is a fantastic event that brings Illinois authors and illustrators together with librarians and teachers. During the event, which lasted from 9 a.m. to noon, I introduced myself, handed out brochures and bookmarks, and passed One Wolf Howls around.
