About Me:
I turned to writing for children when I acted as a special teacher to a mainstreamed blind student when he entered first grade. I was with him for three+ yrs. During that time I wrote stories for both him and his classmates. Teaching them all how to write a story and put it with pictures was the most fun of all and ultimately encouraged all the classroom teachers to do the same each year.

Those little books that each class wrote were shelved in the school's library where any student could check them out and take them home. I like to think that I created that program for so many of those kids.

I taught as many YA and adults as elementary students and always enjoyed that feeling of having given them something to think about. That's why I can't stop writing now. I have too many stories yet to tell and no children close by to tell them to.

With the help of ICL I hope to have something published soon. I've learned much this past year and I've met so many marvelous writers whose work I can now enjoy all the more.

Interview Series Postponement

Dur to a family emergency with concerning my father, I am forced to postpone my upcoming interview series until sometime in December. Hopefully, I'll be able to begin posting it in Jan.

I appreciate all the well wishes and am grateful for all of your kind thoughts and words.

I'll see you when I see you. I will have extremely limited access, if any, to a computer while I'm away.

Take care, all, and God bless.

Interviews

I'm planning a series of interviews with women writers/illustrators for my blog at: http;//claudsy.wordpress.com/. I'm still contemplating whether to post them here as well. Be sure and let me know what you think about having them here.

I've always been curious about what influences a writer's mental gears and shift ratio. (Okay, that was for the guys, but it's true nonetheless.) Our lives are influenced by all things outside of ourselves. But how much of an influence do we, as weiters, allow t… Continue

Changing Faces

Whenever I sign in to any of my chosen websites, a sea of faces greet me. some new and some familiar, but always I ask, "Who are these people really?"

I can sit on some, for instance, and talk to no one, post nothing, just watch the goings on. I never have tiime to get bored with that. It's fascinating to watch the interactions and the ebb and flow of contacts taking place. I ask myself questions about these colleagues in the industry. What did they have for lunch? How many children do they hav… Continue

Muse Online Writing Conference

Will it be running this year? That is the question of my day. Anytime I can find a conference for free, I'll take it. So much is being done online now for every conceivable avenue of life, that online writer's conferences are bound to make a good showing since travel expenses and personal budgets are in conflict with professional needs and desires.

Perhaps those with far more experience than this one little newbie to the profession can answer this burning question. Is a conference on for this y… Continue

Thanks. I just got another review from the owner of Spellbinder books in Bishop CA. you can see it on bookykids.blogspot.com under the title That Darn Vacuum. I will be checking back soon and do a "formal" intro of myself to others here. One of the greatest discoveries in this process has been the support from other indep. authors and publishers and I intend to do my part in providing what I can to help others as well. Linda

I too apologize for the typos and misspelled words...long day.... plus I am more of a creative speller, not a great trait for a writer but as Mark Twain said "never trust a man who can spell a word only one way." I think it was Mark Twain. I am off to meet Mary Ann Hoberman who is doing a reading at the Kings English bookstore here in Salt Lake City (what fun!) you can send emails to me at linda@peekingkitty.com

Hi there,

I hope you had a nice trip. I'm very sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. I hope your sister and the rest of your family are finding some peace and comfort during this trying time.

I'm doing well. I also just came back from traveling. I spent the week in Houston for my employer's annual convention.

I'm glad you came back in time to see the wonderful colors on our trees. The leaves are finally starting to fall. But I must admit this has been one of our most beautiful autumns yet.
